What is Animal Chiropractic?Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to pet health care. It deals with the nervous system housed inside the spinal column and with keeping the nervous system healthy for the benefit of all body systems including the musculoskeletal system. Animal Chiropractic involves adjustment of subluxations of the spinal column, extremity joints and skull bone junctions called cranial sutures. Animal Chiropractic care involves management advice as to what is needed to insure proper response to chiropractic care, including rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise. Why use Chiropractic care for my pet?If your pet has any or some of the following symptoms or issues then chiropractic care is right for them: What makes Dr. Rowan qualified to practice Animal Chiropractic? He is a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who passed a postgraduate program in Animal Chiropractic approved by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, AVCA and successfully completed the AVCA certification exam. How much does it cost?
How long do the appointments last? The initial visit will last for 30 - 45 minutes with each follow up visit lasting approximately 15 minutes. Do I need a referral from my primary Veterinarian? No, however, we do recommend bringing current records and x-rays if possible. How often does my pet have to come in?The number and frequency of visits required varies greatly. Some deciding factors are as follows: How long has the problem(s) been present? The longer a problem has been present the longer it takes the body to heal and thus, more visits may be required for a period of weeks to months. What is the condition of my pet? Is he or she older? Older pets heal more slowly and timing of visits is done to allow optimal healing to occur between each adjustment. Because the nervous system is the slowest healing part of the body, treatment may need to continue for extended periods of time. What type of damage was done to precipitate the desire for chiropractic care, if other then for routine maintenance care? Gradual onset of a problem may indicate more extensive nerve cells damage and prolong the healing process. Obviously many factors go in to deciding how often you will be visiting Dr. Rowan, and you and he will discuss this at each visit. The final factor in frequency of visits is cooperation of the owner. Your pet must be present for Dr. Rowan to treat it so, it is important to come to all of your scheduled appointments and to call us as soon as you notice a problem with your pet. By closely following the schedule made for your pet, the quicker your pet will return to normal function or to the best function his condition allows. Obviously, many chiropractic problems cannot be fully corrected, but most patients experience a definite improvement in quality of life through chiropractic care. Does Dr. Rowan see horses?Yes he does, please call the clinic to set up the appointment. Together you will agree on a time that works for you when everyone can meet at the barn or other location of the horse. Horse prices vary and there is a charge for mileage. Having Dr. Rowan see more then one horse at a particular barn could allow several people to split his travel fee's, saving you money and making it so more horses are receiving chiropractic care. |
